First Pampa Visitors

Over Labor Day weekend, Becca and Samuel drove up for a visit. They were so flexible! We didn't have any of our furniture yet, so they camped with us. :) I went furniture "shopping" in the church and found some chairs and a table that we used for the weekend, fun memories. We had a great time, there was lots of Settlers, Sonic, Smiles and Snuggles! :)

I think we played 8 games all together - I didn't win one.... frustrating. As you can see here, we had to stay hydrated and Sonic has this thing called Happy Hour... that is very hard to pass up.

Of course the reason Becca and Sam came to visit wasn't to see me or Brad but this little gal.

Downtown Chicago for the Last Time

We got to go downtown, for the last time, with two of our amazing friends Elise and Brandon. We went to Millennium Park and listened to "Jazz" music. I say "Jazz" because it wasn't what we expected, but it was very much fun nonetheless. :)

This couple was practicing inappropriate PDA (Public Display of Affection), or so we thought. We felt bad for being so judgmental when we saw him get down on one knee and propose. :) It was really cute - she was shocked and embarrassed. :) Everyone around clapped - sweet.

It was a wonderful evening.

Two Months Old

Lucy Jo is 2 months old! More like 2.5 months old now - but here are the pictures nonetheless (Taken on 8/14/2010 - her 2 month birthday). :)

At Lucy's two month Dr.s appointment she weighed in at 11lbs 2oz and was 23 3/8 in, still in the 90th percentile. :) She did well getting her shots - there were three physical shots total (I think 6 immunizations). The Dr and Nurse gave her all three shots at the same time - same instant. Poor Luce, she didn't like it - at all.... but she calmed down soon after, sleeping for the rest of the day.

These pictures were taken in Michigan at Brad's parents house - thus the different rocking chair.

Michigan: Steve and Sarah's Wedding

The best man from our wedding got married on August 14th - and Brad got to be his best man.

Steve and Brad have been friends since nursery school - and actually Sarah (Steve's now, bride) was with them too! Brad has told me many times, and expressed in his best man speech, that Steve is, for all practical purposes, his brother. I always enjoy watching these two guys have fun together. :)

Minnesota: Generations

Meet my Great Grandpa Ivance. He is 103 years old.

He still dresses up - each and every day.

Great Grandpa Ivance is my Grandma Chisholm's dad. The only generation missing here is my mom! We missed you!!!

Boutwell, where Grandpa Chisholm was recuperating from the accident is the same building where my Great Grandpa Ivance is living.

Isn't my Grandma a classy lady?

Great Grandpa doesn't remember me - but when he heard we were from Chicago, his face light up! He said, "I lived in Chicago!" Even though I have heard the story of his life in Chicago, I didn't mind hearing it again - I love hearing Great Grandpa reminisce about the past.

Grandma was explaining to him who Lucy was, "Jolene's grand daughter."

Both Brad and I are so blessed to have such a legacy of faith preceding us. We are thankful, so thankful for the faith that has been passed down to us. We are so excited about having a family now, of our own, that we can impart the gospel to. What an honor.

Quick Interruption

A quick interruption to the Minnesota updates to say:

1. We finally have internet in our apartment.
2. We are safe and sound in Pampa, Texas.
3. We are still camping out in our apartment, since our stuff hasn't gotten here yet. (Hopefully by early next week?)
4. The drive here went well, our two backseat passengers were both champs - Chloe didn't like the trip at. all. But Lucy did well - considering the circumstances.

Things we have observed while living here so far:

1. It is VERY windy. I fought the battle of skirt vs. wind multiple times - and I am no longer wearing skirts on a daily basis...
2. We are addicted to Sonic.
3. We love living close to a Wal-Mart.
   
4. We love the people here - seriously, southern hospitality is alive and well.
5. We are both picking up a southern drawl much faster than we anticipated. This may be due to our obsession with Friday Night Lights (awesome show).
6. The kids at school here are stinkin' cute! (There is a school that meets in the church building during the week. When the kids walk in the hallways they are required to be quiet and walk with their hands behind their backs - it is fun to see them steal looks at Lucy and try to stay quiet - I hope the teachers don't think I am trying to be a distraction! :) )
