The Little Chef Hat

For those of you who don't know, I have two little sisters. Laura is 6 and Anna is 4. They both have birthdays in March and I usually have a ton of fun shopping for them. This year, I gave gifts that had themes, Laura is a little artist, so she got two "How to draw" books and a sketching set that came in a cute case. My mom told me Laura said, "It looks just like a Kindle mom!" That made me happy. :)

Anna's gift was a bit of a different story, we had a set of Melissa and Doug cutting set (one of the ones with Velcro) to give her, but I wanted to include something else. Something that went along with the food preparation theme. My sister Becca told me she was going to give Anna a personalized apron, and a light bulb went off in my head, "She will need a chef hat to go with her apron!" So I searched the internet and found this site: http://www.stardustshoes.blogspot.com/ And followed the directions she provides to make a chef hat. :)

The fabric, from Hobby Lobby. I wanted it to match her apron, so I tried to find something with royal blue in it.

In the middle of the sewing process. :)

The finished hat :)

My little model

"What kind of soup do you want me to make you mama?"

Anna Ruthie, the birthday girl! (YES! She got to open her gift at MY house! :) More details to come tomorrow :) )

Playing "Chef" in her new apron and hat - with her new toys :)

I don't know about you, but I feel like my crafting/sewing bugs come in waves. For example, I just got done making Lucy's curtains, made this hat and whipped up some cool decorative balls (I'll show you soon). But I haven't done anything crafty like that in awhile. :) What fun crafts/sewing projects have you made lately? Or maybe crafting is not your thing, what do you do to relax? Maybe you enjoy gardening (I'm trying to learn!) or cooking, or maybe even sports? I'd love to hear. :)
